Chattahoochee Valley Community College proudly announces the success of
its recent campus clean-up initiative, which showcases the dedication of students, faculty, and staff
to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
The event, held on April 15, 2024, brought together over thirty volunteers who worked tirelessly to
beautify the campus and surrounding areas. Participants rolled their sleeves up, donned gloves, and
armed themselves with trash bags and pickers to tackle litter, debris, and other waste, demonstrating a
collective commitment to sustainability and a cleaner environment.
Under the guidance of the campus sustainability committee, the clean-up efforts targeted vital areas,
including green spaces, walkways, and recreational areas. Participants cleared litter and discussed waste
reduction, recycling, and environmental conservation.
“The overwhelming turnout and enthusiasm for this event exemplify our college community’s
dedication to fostering a sustainable campus environment,” said Vickie Williams, Associate Dean of
Student Development and Success at CVCC. “We are immensely proud of everyone who participated
and contributed to making our campus cleaner and more beautiful for all.”
The campus clean-up initiative's success was further amplified by the generous support from the
Wiregrass Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council and State Representative Jeremy
Gray. Their contributions helped provide essential supplies and resources, ensuring the event’s
effectiveness and impact.
During the event, representatives from the RC&D presented CVCC with a generous donation in
recognition of the clean-up efforts. This contribution underscores the importance of collaboration
between academic institutions and community partners in promoting environmental sustainability and
community welfare.
In addition to the tangible results of a cleaner campus, the event fostered a sense of camaraderie and
unity among participants. It reminded us of our collective responsibility to preserve and protect our
environment for future generations.
CVCC extends its heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, and partners who made this initiative
possible. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and community stewardship.
